4. Get Your Materials Together

So now that you know your domain name, host and goals you are ready to get your resources together.  You want to get together any images you intend to use on your website and make sure they are high resolution and good quality.  A professional photographer is best but if you take your time you can get some pretty good shots of your business, products, personnel etc. with a consumer grade camera.  Ultimately high resolution, good looking photos will be easy to work with and save time (and money) during the development of your web pages.

You also want to write notes about what pages you think you need (About Us, Contact, Products, Services, etc.)  Write the content that you want on these pages as well.  You can write this up in a Word document or even Google Docs.  Having this done ahead of time will again save an enormous amount of time and money during the development of your web pages.  Save these notes electronically so you can send them to your web designer for the fastest results.

If you are intending to setup an eCommerce website make sure you have your customer and product databases handy and in a comma-delimited or spreadsheet file.

All of this preparation will help you further refine what you are looking for and will help the process go more smoothly in the next step.
